Theresa Villarreal is a Catholic Christian author, educator, and entrepreneur from Texas who writes faith-inspired stories for young readers. Her middle grade portal fantasy series, Adventures in Oculus, transports kids to magical worlds filled with courage, friendship, and discovery while weaving Christian themes of hope, faith, and truth. Book 1 received a Christlit Book Award.
Theresa also writes picture books, Christian devotionals, and children’s resources designed to encourage imagination and spiritual growth. She is the creator of the Eaty Man coloring book, a fun, food themed activity book for kids, and she is currently developing new chapter book projects.
In addition to her writing, Theresa is the producer and co host of The Storyteller’s Shelf Podcast, a platform celebrating children’s literature from board books to young adult while helping demystify publishing for authors, illustrators, and industry professionals. Through the podcast, she and her co host interview creators and publishing professionals, share book centered conversations, and provide practical guidance for aspiring writers. Theresa also offers independent kidlit book reviews through her author website to help authors promote their work and connect with readers. She volunteers in social media marketing for SCBWI Houston.
A graduate of the University of Houston’s Bauer School of Business with a degree in Marketing, Theresa brings marketing and sales expertise to her publishing journey, and she completed the Bank of America sponsored Entrepreneur Program through Cornell Online in May 2025. She is a homeschooling mom of two who enjoys family life, baking, gardening, and finding story inspiration in everyday creativity.
