I really enjoyed reading Sophie and Sinclair Get Lost by Colleen Olle, illustrated by Marcy Tippmann. This sweet children’s picture book is perfect for kids ages 4 to 8, and as I read it, I found myself smiling at Sophie the rabbit and Sinclair the turtle and their little adventure.
At the end of autumn, Sophie and Sinclair are excited to play, but all the other animals are busy working. I loved how the story shows their personalities. Sophie is eager to hurry through the maze, while Sinclair prefers to think carefully. Watching them get lost and worry about finding each other drew me in, and I found myself rooting for them as they recruited other animal friends to help them find their way out of the maze.
What I really appreciated was how both characters learned from each other. Sophie learns to slow down and take her time, and Sinclair discovers the value of acting without hesitation. The story does a wonderful job of teaching children about friendship, teamwork, and problem solving in a gentle and fun way.
Reading Sophie and Sinclair Get Lost reminded me of classic Frog and Toad stories, with its gentle humor, charming animal characters, and lessons about friendship and cooperation. It is also perfect for fans of books like Little Bear or Maisy, where simple adventures lead to meaningful lessons for young readers.
The illustrations are charming and full of warmth, which made me enjoy reading this book even more. I can easily see young readers loving the story and parents or educators using it for read-alouds or early elementary classrooms.
